I can't watch. But, here's the video feed, in case you can. God, how awful this disaster is. And yet, we will surely drill the planet dry of oil before the Age Of Petroleum is over. We'll drill our ancestors' graves if we have to.

We drill for oil because it is the most cost-efficient fuel at present. If nuclear fuel comes online and is more affordable, we will use that. It is all about the market. When politicians interfere with the market for political reasons, the market is distorted.
ReplyDeleteOur economy depends on fuel. Without fuel our society would grind to a halt and our lives would be solitary, nasty, brutish, and short.
Yes, there are trade-offs in every avenue we take. It's just that I wouldn't have the heart to say that to the shrimpers down on the Gulf Coast, right now.
